Kacey Musgraves gave an amazing performance at The Paramount in Huntington NY on July 18, 2015, with Andrew Combs opening the show. Photos from the concert are at the bottom of this post.
Kacey’s set had a great mix of songs from her debut album “Same Trailer Different Park” (including Follow Your Arrow, Blowin’ Smoke, Merry Go Round) as well as her just released sophomore album “Pageant Material” (including Biscuits, Dime Store Cowgirl, Good Ol’ Boys Club) along with a few fun covers sprinkled in between (including Scrubs, These Boots Are Made For Walkin’). Her unique approach to traditional country music truly sets her apart from others in the genre.
Near the end, just before performing a crowd favorite, Kacey said “So nobody plays this on the radio but you guys made this a hit…because you know how to Follow Your Arrow.” Kick ass lyrics with an incredible voice to deliver them has proven to be all she needs in driving her success.
I brought my daughters to the concert and we were fortunate enough to meet Kacey backstage before the show. She couldn’t have been more sweet with the girls. I don’t know if Kacey considers herself a role model, but she is someone I’m proud to say my kids look up to. She’s honest, genuine, and a true artist in every sense of the word.
Kacey returns to the region this fall, with shows at College Street Music Hall in New Haven CT on Friday October 23rd and at the Apollo Theatre in NYC on October 24th. You can find her complete tour schedule at: http://www.kaceymusgraves.com/events
