Little Big Town did a little motor boatin’ and day drinking in Greenwich Connecticut on Saturday.

The band, recently nominated for five CMA awards, was in town to headline the Greenwich 2015 Wine + Food Festival presented by Serendipity. The festival, which features local culinary experts, provides guests with tastings, demonstrations, and of course, amazing music. This was the biggest crowd they’d ever had for the festival, which is now in its fifth year.  The event also serves as a fundraiser for The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, an organization founded in 1988 by Paul Newman to provide “a different kind of healing” to children and their families coping with serious illnesses.

LBT kicked things off with a crowd favorite – “Day Drinking.” Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb, who had introduced the band, joined them on stage for this one. Kathie Lee, a long time Greenwich resident, made a $10,000 donation to the Camp in honor of her friendship with Paul Newman and her late husband Frank.

After their first few songs Kimberly spoke to the audience – “This is the first time we’ve ever been to your little big town.” She added how much they were enjoying their time in Greenwich – “We had some yummy food, some delicious wine, and went motor boatin’ on your water.” That got some big cheers from the crowd. Earlier in the day Kimberly had done a cooking demonstration. Karen said – “Lord she was nervous. She loves to feed people because it brings love and fellowship to the table.” Kimberly added – “The more butter the more love.”

LBT’s set had plenty of crowd favorites including “Pontoon” and “Boondocks.” The highlight was definitely the song that has received so much attention this year – “Girl Crush.” The entire audience sang along as two spotlights focused on Karen center stage and a giant disco ball above lit up the venue with sparkling white lights.

For me the greatest part of the evening was seeing how well Jimi Westbrook has recovered from his recent vocal surgery.  His voice sounded better than ever. That had to have been a scary couple of months for Jimi – so glad to have him back.

LBT returns to Connecticut on New Years Eve with a show at the Mohegan Sun Arena. Click here to check out all of their upcoming tour dates.
