NYC celebrated the 4th of July with Carrie Underwood, Dan + Shay and Filmore at the all-new Rooftop at Pier 17 as part of Spotify's Hot Country Live Series.
It had been nearly two years since Carrie Underwood last performed in New York City when she sold out Madison Square Garden on The Storyteller Tour. On July 4th the seven-time Grammy Award winning superstar returned to headline the inaugural Spotify Hot Country Live series at the Rooftop at Pier 17.

In a press release announcing the show Underwood said, “I’m thrilled to be a part of Spotify’s first ever Hot Country Live show, and can’t wait to celebrate the holiday playing live music under the stars.” Underwood performed an hour-long set featuring some of the biggest hits of her career (full set list below).
Pier 17 provided an amazing setting for the show, with the Brooklyn Bridge on full display behind the stage, and the Statue of Liberty visible at the other end. It was also really special to have the chance to get so close to Underwood, whereas she’s normally performing in sold out arenas.

Just before Underwood took the stage Somethin’ Bad started playing, and that got the already excited crowd all fired up. At 8:15p Underwood emerged looking absolutely stunning, wearing a black jumper and silver boots. She kicked the show off with one of her powerful anthems, Church Bells.
Underwood’s performance of Cry Pretty, the lead single from her upcoming album which will be released on Capitol Records Nashville on September 14th, was one of the highlights of the night. The audience was in awe from her powerful vocals on this song. Talking about the new album in a recent press release Underwood said, “At this point in my career, I feel stronger and more creative than ever. I think you can hear that in this new album. It’s emotional, it’s soulful, it’s real, and we also have some fun on there too. I hope everyone loves it as much as I have loved making it.” If Cry Pretty is any indication of how good this new album is going to be, we know we’re going to love it.
Prior to Underwood’s performance, Dan + Shay gave the crowd a mix of songs from their new self titled album as well as some of their biggest hits. Crowd favorites included From The Ground Up, Nothin’ Like You, and All to Myself. They wrapped up their set with their latest number one hit single, Tequila, with 3,000 people singing along:
Nashville-based singer/songwriter Filmore kicked off the evening with a brief but energetic set that included Love That About You and You Know You Wanna.
According to Spotify, the Hot Country Live concert series will bring today’s most dynamic country music stars, many of whom are featured in the Hot Country playlist each week, to select cities nationwide. We’ll definitely be on the look-out for more NYC-area announcements and will keep you posted!
