17 Memphis Release “Happy” Music Video: Exclusive Premiere
The country music duo takes on handling heartbreak in a social media culture.
When Felix Snow and Chelsea Todd set out to write Happy, they were inspired by how we all deal with heartbreak in our always-connected social media culture.
“Having infinite access to people and being able to constantly check up on how someone is doing or what they are doing can be super confusing in a time of healing,” Chelsea told me. “The song didn’t start out as a love song actually, but more of a moment of exhaustion with social media and all the negative feelings that come along with constant insight into what everyone else is doing.”

The duo worked with Nick Demarias, Dylan Rucker, and Rachel Deeb on the music video for Happy. It was shot at an arts and crafts house in East Nashville that they found on Avvay.
“We just wanted to focus on the story of the song and keep it as simple as possible,” Chelsea explained. “We came up with the idea of each of us fading out and disappearing in some of the shots and Nick Demarias just did a phenomenal job bringing those ideas to life. He killed it.”

Happy is one of the tracks off the duo’s upcoming album, The Ballad of 17 Memphis, due out later this month.
